June 2013. This month...

*** We are delighted to share the success of the Genius-sponsored 101-mile Break the Cycle event on 1st June 2013. In excess of £30k was raised, enabling Bristol Rugby Community Foundation to continue their excellent work with disaffected young people in Bristol.***

A new client: engineering and design consultancy Morgan Sindall Professional Services, has been keeping us all super busy… this month. We have spent a great deal of time with them in order to really get under their skin, exploring what they need in terms of recruitment strategy and delivering a range of solutions. The ‘hub’ is a brand new bespoke recruitment website, which will go live in early July – we will of course let you know when you can view it! After that, the hard work in sourcing some of the country’s most difficult to recruit candidates starts!

We’ve also developed a new graduate website, are just about to present initial creative ideas to another new client, and have welcomed a smattering of smaller projects from both new and old client faces – nice to see you again! Overall, our consultancy clients have wanted lots of thought, planning and preparation in June and we are now poised ready for all the activity to kick off.

Our client St Mungo’s Action Week (http://www.mungos.org/nomore) certainly has gotten us talking... about the realisation that the number of rough sleepers in the UK has risen by an astonishing 31% over the last two years. Their #NoMore campaign certainly created a buzz in the media with plenty of discussion and stories being shared.

We’ve discovered that… our client activity has been closely following general trends. The REC/KPMG Report on Jobs in May led with the fact that “…. the engineering sector…  and nursing, medical & care, were the top two sectors for both permanent and contract jobs...”. Fittingly, we have recently delivered some exciting new event collateral for Weston Area Health Trust, who are attending recruitment events in July looking for senior level nurses – see our Campaign Page here: http://westonnurses.campaignpage.co.uk/home/. We’ve also been delving deep into the world of engineering recruitment to meet the requirements of two new clients – see above for one.

We’ve also discovered that… having central heating installed in a Grade 2* listed building can often be noisy, disruptive and messy, as well as demanding we spend a great deal of time shifting office furniture about.  We will be mighty pleased with it though, once the… er… Summer ends and Winter is upon us again.

The thought of Katherine attempting to make polite small talk whilst snaffling lots of mini ice cream treats at the Saxton Bampfylde Annual Sumer Party...made us laugh! This wonderful event was held at the beautiful V&A this year and was a keenly anticipated opportunity for us to meet the teams with whom we work on a daily basis, but do not get to meet face to face as often as we’d like. A great time was had by all, and we especially enjoyed the David Bowie exhibition.

In very early July (well, this week actually) we are looking forward to… a jolly good rip-roaring party to celebrate Genius’ 3rd  birthday! We were lucky (and quick) enough to obtain tickets to top- notch comedy legend Alan Davies’ show at the Bristol Comedy Garden (http://bristolcomedygarden.co.uk/) and are following that up with a meal and some liquid refreshment. And if you’re starting to think “do they only have social occasions at venues they can see from their office window (see pic for evidence)?”, then the answer would be YES, WE DO!!!
